It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we share the passing of Josh Sendelbach of La Crosse, Wisconsin. Originally from Whitehall, Josh passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a legacy of service, kindness, and unforgettable energy that touched everyone who knew him.
Josh was a dedicated paramedic at Gundersen Health System, where he worked tirelessly to care for others in their most vulnerable moments. He was known not only for his skill and professionalism but also for the light he brought to every shift. His colleagues fondly remember him as someone who could make the darkest nights brighter with his laughter, music, and unshakable positivity.
Josh studied at the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse and Western Technical College, building the foundation for his career in emergency medicine. He was a proud graduate of Whitehall Memorial and carried the spirit of his hometown, Whitehall, Wisconsin, wherever he went.
To those who worked alongside him, Josh was more than just a teammate—he was a true friend. His shift partner, Kailee Marie, shared how he brought joy even after the most difficult calls: “You were one of the best parts of night shifts… a Baddie Life Saver at his finest. I hope you found peace. Rest easy, friend.”
Bethany Hofer, a longtime friend and fellow paramedic, reflected on their time together: “From our wild, exhausting, laughter-filled days in paramedic school to the ER nights—you always knew how to bring humor and comfort. Though you may be gone, your laughter and the lessons you shared will live on in all our hearts.”
Josh Sendelbach was a lover of Hemingway, a fierce chess player, a devoted friend, and the “rizz god” of many inside jokes. He was someone who made everyone feel seen, heard, and valued.
As we remember Josh, we hold tight to the memories he gave us—memories of loyalty, laughter, and the unwavering love he poured into everything he did. His presence will be deeply missed, but his impact will remain forever.
Rest easy, Josh. We got it from here.
